As a The Woodlands photographer specializing in couples, I absolutely adore incorporating furry friends into my sessions. Often, dogs are a couple's first "children," and their love for their pets shines through in the most heartwarming ways. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing Camilla and Tyler along with their adorable new puppy near their home in Montgomery, TX.
Here are a few tips for those of you looking to include your pup in your portraits:
- Tire them out: Before the session begins, take your puppy for a good walk or run to expend some energy. Throwing a ball or playing a game of fetch is a fantastic way to get them tired and more relaxed during the photoshoot.
- Provide distractions: There may be times when we need to focus on capturing portraits of just the couple. Having a leash to tie them to a nearby pole or tree can be helpful, allowing them to enjoy a chew toy like a bully stick while you capture those intimate moments.
- Bring a towel: Don't forget to bring a towel to wipe off any muddy paws or unexpected messes.
Camilla and Tyler's session was a perfect example of how to seamlessly include a pup in your portraits. Their playful energy with their new puppy was infectious, and the resulting images captured the essence of their love for each other and their furry companion.
