Grand Oaks High School Senior Pictures in Houston | Bree
Some senior sessions are especially fun because there's so much personality to work with, and Bree's was definitely one of them!
Bree was a senior at Grand Oaks High School in Spring, Texas, and an incredibly talented basketball player preparing to continue her athletic career at Abilene Christian University. For her senior pictures, we headed into Houston for an urban setting with beautiful architecture and plenty of variety.
An Urban Senior Session in Houston
We photographed Bree's session shortly after a freeze, so we leaned into architectural backgrounds rather than the usual greenery. The white buildings, brick walkways, and interesting lines gave us a clean, modern setting that worked beautifully with her outfits.
Bree was a little reserved when we first started, which is completely normal. Not everyone feels immediately comfortable in front of a camera!
But after about 20 minutes of walking around, talking, and taking pictures, she started to relax. I loved watching her personality come through as the session went on.
Basketball, Grand Oaks, and Abilene Christian University
Basketball has been a huge part of Bree's high school experience. She played varsity basketball at Grand Oaks beginning her freshman year, competed in AAU basketball, and was preparing to take her talents to ACU.
She's also an accomplished student who participated in National Honor Society, Rho Kappa, and leadership activities in her community.
We made sure to incorporate her basketball and ACU flag into the session, and those ended up being some of my favorite photographs.
I always encourage seniors to bring something meaningful to their pictures, whether that's a letter jacket, sports equipment, college gear, or something connected to a favorite hobby.
These are the things that help tell the story of who they are at this particular moment in their lives.
A Few Family Pictures, Too
One of the sweetest parts of Bree's session was wrapping up with a few photographs of her family.
Senior year is such a big milestone for parents, too. After all the years of practices, games, school events, and cheering from the sidelines, graduation can feel like it arrives in the blink of an eye.
I love when families take a few minutes to get in front of the camera together.

Some seniors love a natural setting with trees and golden-hour light. Others want something more modern and urban. And sometimes incorporating a basketball or college flag makes the photographs that much more meaningful.
