I am so excited to share some bright, colorful, and fun images from a recent brand shoot for a fantastic local business, Mahjong Rodeo! If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to play mahjong or just find a fun, welcoming space to play, you have to check them out.
For this session, the founder and owner, Courtney, wanted to capture the vibrant, joyful spirit of her brand. Our goal was to create stunning Houston commercial photographer images for her website and social media, including headshots, team photos, and dynamic lifestyle shots of the team in action.
A Colorful Day at Chandelier Grove
We chose the beautiful Chandelier Grove in Tomball, TX, for our location, and it was the perfect backdrop for our colorful vision. To really make the images pop, we used brightly colored tablecloths, beautiful floral arrangements, and giant balloons that matched the fun, energetic vibe of Mahjong Rodeo. Of course, the star of the show was the colorful and intricate mahjong tiles and mats!
The ladies on the Mahjong Rodeo team were just as vibrant as their setup, wearing bright dresses and their favorite boots—a perfect nod to the "Rodeo" part of their name. Their energy was contagious, and it was a true joy to capture them laughing and connecting over the game. This is exactly why I do what I do—capturing the connection between people is one of my favorite parts of being a photographer in Houston Texas.
More Than Just a Game
Beyond just the beautiful aesthetics, we also focused on capturing the essence of what Mahjong Rodeo offers. They teach and host mahjong classes, and the images needed to convey how welcoming and enjoyable their events are. Their two main offerings are:
- Mahj 101: This is the ideal class for true beginners. They walk you through everything from tile recognition to game setup and basic strategies, all following NMJL rules.
- Open Play: This event is for everyone, from seasoned players to those who just want to relax and enjoy the game. Mahjong Rodeo provides everything you need—just show up! It's a great opportunity to meet new people and even win some prizes.
