There are some sessions that just feel special from the very beginning—and Vicki and John’s engagement session at The Woodlands Resort was exactly that.
Vicki and John traveled all the way from Newfoundland, turning a work trip with Exxon into something far more meaningful—celebrating their recent engagement in The Woodlands. I always say your photos should reflect a season of your life, not just a location—and this session did just that. It captured the joy, anticipation, and deep connection these two share in such an intentional way.
From the moment we started, it was obvious how in love they are. The kind of love that feels easy. Natural. The kind where you don’t have to force a single thing.
And Vicki—she brought the personality in the best way.
Her outfit was everything. A flowing white dress with a train that moved so beautifully with the breeze, paired with black cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. It was bold, feminine, a little western, and completely her. It added such a fun contrast to the soft, romantic setting of the resort, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
We spent our time slowly walking the property, chasing pockets of that dreamy golden light that makes everything feel a little softer, a little more magical. One of the things I gently guide my couples through is not just posing, but being—slowing down, laughing together, leaning into those in-between moments. Vicki and John made that so easy.
By the time we stepped out onto the golf course, the light was glowing in that golden, end-of-day way that photographers quietly hope for every session. It gave us the most peaceful, romantic backdrop to close out our time together—wide open space, soft light, and just the two of them soaking it all in.
When I delivered their gallery, Vicki sent me a message I won’t forget:
“Okay I’m fully obsessed and so happy and crying of happiness!!! You did amazing!! The evening was so fun and dreamlike, loved having your guidance and all your visions for the poses came to life! Can’t thank you enough!!!!”
