There’s something really special about senior sessions that feel like you—not overly posed, not forced, not trying to fit into a mold. Nadia’s session was exactly that from start to finish: personal, expressive, and effortlessly cool.
When Nadia filled out her questionnaire and described her style as grunge, I immediately knew we needed an environment that would complement that vibe. Clean but edgy. Structured but not stiff. That’s what led us to Hughes Landing in The Woodlands, Texas—a location that gives you the best of both worlds: modern architecture and urban textures, all in one place.
We started her session with a softer, elevated look—a black and white polka dot mini dress. We found the most beautiful white building that created the perfect contrast. There’s something about a simple, clean backdrop that allows a senior to truly stand out, and Nadia absolutely did. The look was classic with just enough personality, and it gave us space to ease into the session naturally.
During this portion, we also incorporated a subtle cap and gown moment. More seniors right now are looking for ways to include graduation elements without it feeling overly traditional, and Nadia’s session reflected that perfectly. Instead of making it the focus, we wove it in—keeping things elevated and intentional. These small touches can still honor the milestone while keeping the overall feel modern and true to who they are.
For the second half of her session, Nadia changed into what she described as 90s streetwear: ripped jeans, Converse, a tank, and a striped cardigan. This is where everything really came to life. We headed up to the rooftop of a parking garage, and the setting couldn’t have matched her style better—open sky, concrete textures, and a little bit of edge.
And then… we spotted a rogue grocery cart.
I don’t ignore things like that—I lean into them.
That cart ended up being one of the best parts of the session. It gave Nadia something to interact with, something to do, and that’s often the key to unlocking natural expressions. Instead of standing and wondering how to pose, she could move, play, and just be herself. That’s where the magic happens.
Nadia wasn’t naturally super smiley, and her mom had mentioned ahead of time that she’d love to see a few smiles if possible. I never force expressions—but I do create space for them. Through movement, prompts, and a little bit of playfulness, we were able to capture a handful of genuine smiles that felt completely like her—not staged, not forced.
That’s really the heart behind how I approach senior sessions.
Today’s seniors aren’t looking for stiff poses or overly polished images. They’re searching for something more honest—candid poses, movement, natural beauty. They want photos that feel like real moments, not something manufactured. Sessions like Nadia’s are a perfect example of how powerful that can be when everything aligns: the location, the styling, and the freedom to just move and exist in the moment.
Nadia is heading to Sam Houston State University to study Construction Management, and I have no doubt she’s going to do incredible things. She carries a quiet confidence that doesn’t need to be loud to be felt—and capturing that was such an honor.
If you’re a senior (or a parent of one) starting to think about photos, here’s what I want you to know: your session doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It can reflect your style, your personality, and your story. Whether that’s grunge, classic, sporty, or something entirely your own—we’ll build a session around you.
Because the best photos aren’t about perfect posing.
They’re about real moments, natural movement, and the kind of confidence that comes from simply being yourself.
