Downtown Houston Romance: Amanda & John's Rainy Day Engagement Shoot

Hey Woodlands friends! I recently had the absolute pleasure of photographing Amanda and John, a truly remarkable couple, for their engagement session. These two are tying the knot in New Orleans this September, and they wanted to capture their Houston love story with some fun, candid, and romantic photos for their save-the-dates and invitations.

Amanda and John's story is one for the books! They met on a blind date in the Fall of 2018, and it was clear from the start that they were meant to be. Since then, they've shared countless adventures, from cheering on their beloved LSU Tigers to volunteering at the Houston Rodeo and embracing the vibrant spirit of Mardi Gras. They love hosting friends, enjoying picnics in the park, and, of course, savoring their favorite cocktails: a dirty martini for Amanda and an Old Fashioned for John.

For their engagement shoot, they envisioned a downtown Houston vibe, complete with a stop at a chic bar for those signature cocktail moments. We wanted to capture their fun, candid, and romantic connection. There was just one little hiccup: the weather. It was a chilly 40 degrees and pouring rain! But, with their limited availability and adventurous spirits, we decided to embrace the elements and make some magic.

Why Embrace Rainy Day Couple Pictures?

You might be thinking, "Rain? Really?" But trust me, some of the most beautiful and authentic photos come from embracing unexpected weather. The rain adds a layer of intimacy and raw emotion that's hard to replicate. Imagine the soft glow of the city lights reflecting off the wet pavement, the cozy moments under an umbrella, and the sheer joy of splashing through puddles with your best friend.

As your photographer, I'm all about capturing genuine moments. And let me tell you, Amanda and John's shoot was filled with them!

Our Rainy Day Adventure

We started at a stylish downtown bar, where Amanda and John sipped their favorite cocktails, sharing laughs and intimate glances. The atmosphere was perfect, and the photos captured their playful chemistry.

Then, we ventured out into the rain-soaked streets of Houston. Armed with clear umbrellas, we captured some truly stunning shots. The rain added a dramatic and romantic touch, creating a unique backdrop for their love story. We even got some fun, spontaneous photos of them running through the rain, cozying up under their umbrella, and laughing together.

Tips for a Couples Photoshoot in the Rain

If you're considering a rainy day shoot, here are a few tips to make it a success:

Plan Your Clothes Around the Weather:

  • Choose materials that handle moisture well.
  • Avoid light colors that might become transparent when wet.
  • Layer up for warmth and style.
  • Bring boots and a rain jacket.

Bring Clear Umbrellas:

  • Clear umbrellas are essential for keeping you dry without casting shadows on your faces.
  • They also look amazing in photos.

Let Loose and Embrace the Rain:

  • Don't be afraid to have fun!
  • Jump in puddles, laugh, and enjoy the moment.
  • The candid moments are often the most memorable.

Amanda & John: A Houston Love Story

Their love story, rooted in their shared passions for LSU, the Houston Rodeo, and each other, shines through in every photo.

I'm so excited for them to tie the knot in New Orleans, and I know their wedding will be just as unforgettable as their engagement shoot.
