Kristen & Landon’s Elegant Wedding at Historic Hill House in Willis, Texas
There are beautiful wedding venues, and then there are places that completely take your breath away.
Historic Hill House in Willis, Texas, is officially in a category of its own for me.
After photographing Kristen and Landon’s wedding here, I can confidently say that Historic Hill House has moved into first place as one of my favorite wedding venues in the Houston area. Set on more than 60 acres of peaceful Texas countryside, this historic property combines the romance of an 1840s estate with the amenities and elevated experience of a luxury wedding venue.
And Kristen and Landon’s wedding was the perfect celebration to showcase it.
A Luxury Southern Wedding Venue Just North of Houston
Located in Willis, Texas, just about an hour north of Houston, Historic Hill House offers something that can be surprisingly difficult to find: a true luxury Southern setting that still feels intimate, peaceful, and completely removed from the busyness of the city.
The property dates back to the 1840s, and the history of the estate gives every corner a sense of character and permanence. At the same time, the venue has been thoughtfully designed to provide the kind of elevated experience couples expect from a luxury wedding destination.
With more than 60 acres to explore, couples have a variety of options for their ceremony, portraits, and reception. The property also offers overnight accommodations for up to 16 wedding guests, along with linens, china, and glassware.

And after spending a wedding day there, I completely understand why.
Ice Blue, Pear Green & Timeless White
Kristen and Landon chose a color palette that felt incredibly fresh and elegant: ice blue, pear green, and white.
It was soft without being overly feminine, sophisticated without feeling stuffy, and completely at home against the natural beauty of Historic Hill House.
Blue napkins were paired with gold chargers, while layers of tapered candlelight brought warmth and romance to the tables.
But my favorite detail?
The pears and green grapes.
Yes, actual pears and grapes were incorporated into the tablescape—and they were perfect.
The fruit added an unexpected organic element that made the tables feel collected and intentional rather than overly styled. Against the blue linens, gold accents, flickering candlelight, and lush white floral arrangements, the result was absolutely gorgeous.
It was one of those details that made me stop and think, This is why thoughtful design matters.
Petal & Stem by Jen Took the Florals to Another Level
And then there were the flowers.
I have photographed a lot of weddings with white florals, but these were not your typical white wedding flowers.
The floral design by Petal & Stem by Jen was intentional, sculptural, lush, and artistic. Rather than simply filling arrangements with white blooms, Jen created floral pieces that felt like individual works of art.
The scale of the arrangements was incredible, and the movement and texture of the flowers added so much dimension to the reception space.
The majestic white floral arrangements paired beautifully with the ice blue linens and pear green details, creating a look that was luxurious without losing its natural, romantic feel.

Candlelight, Gold Details & an Elegant Reception
There is something about candlelight at a wedding reception that photographs beautifully—and Kristen and Landon embraced it wholeheartedly.
The reception tables were layered with blue napkins, gold chargers, lush white flowers, green pears, green grapes, and rows of tapered candles.
As the light began to change outside, the candlelight became even more beautiful.
That combination of natural Texas scenery, historic architecture, abundant florals, and warm candlelight created the kind of atmosphere that feels both romantic and timeless.
It's also a reminder that luxury doesn't always mean adding more.
Sometimes it's about choosing a few beautiful elements and allowing them to shine.
A Wedding Day Surrounded by Texas Beauty
One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Historic Hill House is the variety the property offers.
The expansive grounds provide beautiful opportunities for portraits without needing to leave the venue. The historic architecture creates a timeless backdrop, while the surrounding trees, fields, and rural Texas landscape give couples plenty of variety throughout the day.
For a wedding photographer, that combination is a dream.
For a couple, it means you can spend your wedding day in one beautiful place without sacrificing variety in your photographs.
And for guests, it creates the feeling of a true wedding weekend experience rather than simply a few hours at an event venue.
Why Historic Hill House Is Now One of My Favorite Texas Wedding Venues
I've photographed weddings in a lot of beautiful places, but Historic Hill House feels different.
It's not simply a pretty venue.
It's an experience.
The historic 1840s property, the expansive acreage, the luxurious accommodations, the Southern setting, and the thoughtful amenities all come together in a way that feels genuinely special.
It's elegant without feeling pretentious. Historic without feeling dated. Luxurious without losing the warmth and character that make a wedding feel personal.
And that's exactly why Historic Hill House has officially moved into first place on my list of favorite wedding venues.
