When planning Kristen’s bridal portraits, we ran into a tiny detour: her wedding venue wasn't available for a portrait session prior to the big day. Every bride deserves a setting that mirrors the elegance and aesthetic of her wedding day, so we set out to find a venue with a similar historic grandeur and charm. The moment we saw The Mansion at Top O’ The Hill in Huntsville, Texas, we knew we had found the perfect fit.


Stepping Back in Time at Huntsville’s Premier Historic Venue

Built in 1864 and meticulously restored in 2018, The Mansion at Top O’ The Hill is a true Texas treasure. Located just a short drive north of The Woodlands and Greater Houston, its historic architecture and grand, light-filled rooms provided a backdrop that felt both regal and deeply personal.


With Texas summer heat soaring well into the high 90s, our game plan was simple: keep Kristen feeling cool, comfortable, and beautiful by curating as much of the session indoors as possible. We carefully worked around the mansion’s gorgeous historic furnishings, utilizing the expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that flooded the rooms with soft, natural light.


Gown, Glow, and Grand Staircases

Kristen was an absolute vision. She wore a striking strapless gown from Brick + Mortar Bridal Boutique in Bryan, Texas. The gown fit her flawlessly—classic, modern, and utterly sophisticated all at once. Her bridal look was completed by the talented team at Illuminate by Rachel, whose makeup artistry gave Kristen a luminous, natural glow that enhanced her beauty perfectly without feeling heavy in the Texas heat.


Inside the mansion, the sweeping grand staircase instantly stole our hearts. Framing Kristen against the architectural lines of the staircase while warm sunlight poured through the window glass created images that felt straight out of a classic romance story. Every gentle turn, every laugh, and every quiet moment captured her genuine joy and excitement.

Conquering the Texas Heat for the Final Shot

While we spent most of our time enjoying the air-conditioned charm inside, we knew we couldn't leave without stepping outdoors. The exterior of The Mansion at Top O’ The Hill features magnificent, towering white columns that demand to be celebrated!


We saved the outdoor portion for the very end of our session. Braving the heat for just a few minutes was beyond worth it. Seeing Kristen stand framed by those grand white columns, gown softly cascading around her, was the ultimate finale to a dream portrait session.
