The Woodlands High School Homecoming Photos | TWHS HOCO
Homecoming is one of those high school traditions that deserves better than a few rushed iPhone photos before everyone heads to dinner.
For this group of girls from The Woodlands High School, we planned a quick HOCO photo session before their evening festivities began. Everyone arrived dressed up, bouquets in hand, and we spent our time getting a mix of individual portraits, photos with friends and a few sweet pictures with the moms.
It was colorful, easy and such a fun way to document this season of high school.
Homecoming Photos With Friends
One of my favorite parts of photographing homecoming is the group dynamic.
Senior portraits are usually focused entirely on one student, but homecoming photos are just as much about the friendships. These are the people you're going to football games, dances and school events with—and years from now, the group photographs may end up being some of your favorites.
For this session, I made sure we photographed the entire group together, but we also broke into smaller groups and pairs so the girls had plenty of variety.
And yes, everyone still got individual portraits.
Individual Homecoming Portraits
When you've put that much thought into the dress, shoes, hair, makeup and flowers, you should have at least a few photographs where you're not standing in a giant group.
Each girl had a few minutes in front of my camera by herself so we could photograph the full look and get some closer portraits too.
Their dresses were all completely different—bright colors, florals, sparkle, classic black—and their bouquets from Piney Rose Florist made each look feel even more individual.
It's also a great little preview of what a senior session feels like for students who haven't had theirs yet.
Don't Forget the Moms
Some of my favorite photographs from this session weren't planned around the dresses at all.
They were the mother-daughter photos.
High school moves incredibly fast, especially once junior and senior year arrive. Homecoming may feel like it's all about the students, but it's a milestone for parents too.
So moms: if you're already there, dressed and watching all of this happen, get in a photograph.
You won't regret having it.
Professional Homecoming Photos in The Woodlands
Homecoming photos don't need to turn into a full portrait session.
The goal is simply to give everyone a chance to enjoy the moment instead of having one parent spend the entire time trying to organize a group, find decent light and take 47 phone photos hoping everyone is looking in one of them.
With a little planning, we can get the big group, smaller friend groups, individual portraits and parent photos pretty quickly—and then everyone can head off to dinner and the dance.

I photograph high school seniors throughout The Woodlands, including students from The Woodlands High School, College Park High School, Grand Oaks High School and surrounding schools.
Senior sessions are more personalized than a homecoming session. We'll choose locations, outfits and an overall look that feels like you rather than trying to make every senior fit into the same style.
