FAQ

How do you photograph weddings?

I reckon that a wedding photographer has the most unique insight as to what actually goes on, on a wedding day. We’re with you for probably the longest on the day and closer than anyone else, longer even than wedding planner, so we can really help you along the way. I love being by your side to help you before your wedding day. I'll send you a guide to help you organize your day, the best moments for the couple photos, the different lights, etc.

On your wedding day, I like to let the day unfold, without interfering too much. All I want to capture is the details, the feelings, the mood, the emotions, the calm and crazy moments and all the details that make your wedding unique. Sometimes it's pure chaos and I'll photograph that, too. Life is messy. And the messy is worth cherishing. While I will direct a couple during the formal photographs, the rest of the day I am completely hands-off. I'm there to take photos that honestly tell the story of your REAL wedding.

I have a natural, unobtrusive approach. My portfolio is filled with candid and spontaneous images that capture the genuine emotions and moments of a wedding day. It's important to me that my you feel comfortable with my style and personality, so I encourage you to contact me anytime you have a question I can help you with.

Otherwise, bring all the unscripted, authentic, wildly in love weddings - they are my jam!

What is the sequence of photography on the wedding day?

Bride Getting Ready:
I'll show up 90 minutes before you're set to be fabulous. We'll chat, snap candid shots, and capture those dress, shoe, and special item moments.

Groom Getting Ready:
If time allows, I'll spend 20 minutes with the guys. Shirt, tie, cufflinks, and maybe a quick toast before they head to the ceremony.

Ceremony:
I become the stealthy photographer ninja, capturing arrivals, the bridal party, and the grand aisle walk. Shhh, I won't make a peep!

Portraits:
Family pics happen right after the "I do's." You give me your must-have shots, and we'll check them off. Couples' portraits are a blast, usually with a beautiful sunset backdrop.

Cocktail Hour:
I'll sneak in shots of the reception room, those elegant table setups, and candid moments. I've got my camera ready to party!

Reception:
It all kicks off with the grand entrances, first dance, and some great candid shots. Then, let loose on the dance floor.

Dance Floor:
My favorite part – the dance floor! I'm in the midst of the action, capturing the main event and the hilarious dance moves in the background. It's a blast! 🕺💃📸

We notice that you're documentary photography - Do you shoot family formals and details?

Yes, of course! If you’re got this far, you already know that we love to photograph couples and it’s one of the main reason people book us – It’s one of our favourite times of the day, but that’s not to say that the other times aren’t as important to us. Family photos are super important to us and although you may not think it now, they will become a lasting memory of loved and lost ones in years to come.

We really hate having our photo taken. Is that a problem?

That’s ok, so do we!

It’s a fact that so do 90% of the couples you see here on our website, yet they turned out pretty good! In the last 200 weddings, only a handful of people have come to us and said they love having their photo taken. For most people, it’s one of the things that make them really apprehensive about the photography – It’s the most unnatural thing to be stood in front of a camera and we totally get that.

But ssssh, here’s the dirty little secret… it’s super easy! We keep it super simple. You don’t need to rock a catwalk pose. You don’t even need to think about it – We often get asked for tips on how we pose people and how we make our couples look so natural and relaxed and the truth is, we hardly pose at all. We’re driven by the light, so we’ll hunt out the best light for that time of day and suggest that you go take a walk in it. Simple stuff. All you’ve then got to do is hang out together, kiss, snuggle, dance. In fact, the couples portrait sessions are some of the nicest parts of the day for us. We LOVE to photograph people in love and our couples always love a few minutes alone together, having a bit of quiet time in the middle of a crazy busy day.
Honestly, the couple portraits are the easiest part of the day for you guys.

How do you capture the party?

By now, you’ll know that we love a great wedding party. If you want your reception party to be off the hook, pick the right DJ or band -- it's a BIG DEAL. Throw in lots of fun lights, tequila shots with your childhood mates, spray a bottle of champagne over the dance floor! Whatever you do, go off and I will capture it! We’re going to be there with the camera in our sweaty hands, living it large on the dance floor with you all. Up, close and personal!

A lot of the day, we’re shooting in natural light, but as soon as the lights go down, our flashguns come out to play. It’s how we create the drama on the dance floor. It’s how we bring out the color in the lights, shoots the epic dance moves and it’s how we like to photograph you and your guests having the best freakin' time…ever!!

One thing is for sure, we’re not going to be there clock watching with the car engine running, waiting to go home as you do your first dance. We’re not THAT photographer.

We've never planned a wedding. Can you help us?

YES. I want to make sure my couples have the best experience that they can with me, so I'm always here as an asset to give advice, help develop your custom photo timeline, and give vendor recommendations where needed. I work with some pretty amazing peeps in the industry and am happy to give you their info as a service to you after you book with me!

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm located in The Woodlands, Texas and yes I love to travel! If you want me to photograph your story, it will require a travel fee, depending on where it takes place. But no worries, I always try to find the cheapest way to come because I don't want it to be a brake for you.

When will we get our photos?

You will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 4 weeks (oftentimes less depending on the season I photograph your story). You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them, choose your favorites, and also order prints!

How many pictures will we receive?

You can expect to receive anywhere between 50-75 fully edited images per hour of photography coverage. I always choose quality rather than quantity and that's why I will choose the best and more significant photos to tell your story.

How do we book you for our wedding?

Once you have a secured date and venue, we can move forward with booking. To reserve your day with me, I require a signed contract and retainer. Click the "Contact me" button at the top of this page to get started!

Do I need a second shooter?

If your budget allows, I always recommend a second shooter, especially for tight timelines. Two shooters are always better than one for multiple reasons. Aside from more coverage of the day you will also have different perspectives, more images, and we are able to split up and capture different parts of the day at the same time.

With my 8- and 10-hour collections, you get a complimentary second shooter.

Do you offer albums or printed images?

Indeed! I love printed goods, so I offer heirloom albums, prints, canvases and holiday cards through a professional lab. This lab ensures the truest image colors and the highest quality materials.

While I recommend ordering prints through my gallery, it isn't required. However, the difference in quality is HUGE when it comes to ordering through a professional lab.

What if it rains?

We’ll keep on shooting anyway!! If you guys are relaxed about the rain, we are too. It’s amazing what you can do with a good old umbrella and a bit of creativity to give you some amazing photos. I shoot in all types of lighting conditions!

What if you get sick on the wedding day?

It would have to be something very serious for me not to come to your wedding, but I do have several trusted associates that I could call on should the worst happen. I’ll always do my best to find a suitable replacement.

So are you a 'light and airy' or 'dark and moody' photographer?

All of the above! It depends on the environment. MRP wants to tell the exact story of the way the light felt in the moment. When golden light is falling in dusty rays onto dark wood, you'll get rich, warm and beautiful contrasty shots. When the sun is high with lush greens, you'll have a much more airy capture.

I won't just slap a trendy filter across all your images - you deserve more than a copy and paste! Instead, your special day is treated with a handcrafted, personalized approach to editing, ensuring it stands out in its unique way.

Will you Photoshop my images to hide any unwanted spots?

Minor edits will be made to all of your images, but I believe our imperfections are what make us beautiful and unique. If there are specific edits you want, these will be charged according to the number and complexity of the edit.

We've decided that we love your work and would like for you to capture our wedding day. What do we do first?

I'm delighted! To get started, fill out the contact form in the navigation menu above and let me know some of the details. Don't be afraid to overshare!

Alternatively, let your planner know that they too can reach out to me directly for availability.

I require a signed contract and $500 deposit to book your date.

Do you only photograph weddings?

No, but weddings are the main part of my business. I also photograph other types of events, as well as portraits branding photo sessions, headshots, and more. I also volunteer my services to a number of charitable organizations.
